Featured show-Charley Crockett at The Admiral-Thursday June 22nd

There was a time when it felt like Charley Crockett promos were piling up at the store. He put out a lot of music, and he still does. I had sampled his stuff, but when someone puts out that much music, I tend to shy away, and this is coming from a Prince fanatic. We saw Charley and his band open for Orville Peck and Yola (with John Waters as host!) at Red Rocks in 2021. As big of an Orville and Yola fan I am, Charley and his band won my heart that night. I have seen him multiple times since, and yes, I have purchased, listened to, and love his ever growing catalog of music. His last three non-cover, non-tribute original albums, Welcome To Hard Times, Music City USA, and The Man From Waco, are all classics from front to back. Charley is as real a country artist as there is out there. He has a deep respect for and knowledge of the genre. He puts out a lot of covers and tribute albums dedicated to deep cut country songs and artists. He has lived the life that makes a good country song. His sound is actually a mix of country, blues, and soul. He and his band deliver the goods on stage. I would go see his band in a heartbeat even if Charley wasn’t fronting them. Keep an eye on piano, accordion, guitar, and trumpet player Kullen Fox as it would be hard to imagine a Crockett show without him.
